I was looking for a funny video of Paige and found this. It was taken in Feb 2005 when Jake was 14 months old.

Why did they stop making Calgon?
I know everyone has had these kinds of days, I just wish I didn't get so many! If they still made Calgon I would fill my bath tub and try to get it to take me away, not to mention that a hot bath on such a chilly day would be devine, add a good book and some quiet in the house OH HEAVEN! So I thought I would make a list of the top 10 reason my day has sucked so far:
10. It's 6* outside and with windchill it feels like -4* (probably more since it's windier here than in town).
9. My pot roast is going to have to cook an extra two hours because it's cooking was interupted.
8. I had some items that needed to be mailed today but I have no car.
7. It's cold in the house because we had no heat for a few hours.
6. I missed turning in an assignment and the teacher will not take a late turn in (GRRRR).
5. My hair is so frizzy and gross and even all the crap I put on it and flat ironed it, it's still resembles Carrot Top's hair just not as cool.
4. My husband's car may be out of commission for more than just today, so I may be without a car as well.
3. Kira has puked on me six time in the past 2 hours, so I have the lovely au do baby puke sent going on.
2. Our house was without power for two hours and it threw off my whole groove. Laundry sat in the washer, not washing, in the dryer-not drying, my kids sat at their school without power and I couldn't call to see if school was cancelled.
1. When taking the dog out, I slipped and fell flat on my back smacking the back of my head on the pavement.

What a week!
Jake turned 5 on Saturday. We just had a family party and his grandma and aunt actually made it this time. Here's a pic of Jake w/his cake.
Kira also turned 7 months on the same day. A picture of her with her birthday buddy is below.
Later Saturday she started getting fussy, but she normally does when we have people over. I guess she doesn't like anyone in her space. But the next day Toby's mom called and let us know that she now has the flu @@. Thank you! We already knew something was up with Kira because she was up a lot that night and was sounding more congested than normal, and also felt warm (later she actually ran a fever of 101.2). Sunday night was awful, I think Kira and I barely slept. I called the doctor and got her in that afternoon but it meant no naptime for her :(. I really needed that nap because I had a job interview Monday night. I still think that I did ok though. Her apt was quick, ears weren't infected but her right ear still had fluid in it. Her sinuses looked infected and she had "a lot of upper airway noise." They put her on omnicef and it has helped, she's much happier today and no fever. I hope that she sleeps tonight because I'm exhausted!Today I got a call from the school telling me that Kali doesn't feel well. I had JUST got the littles down for their nap and had an 'oh crap!' moment. The nurse offered to just give Kal tylanol and see how that went and it did the trick but Kal was not happy with me. She was supposed to have a playdate but had to cancel it because she wasn't feeling well.
Tomorrow is Kira's second synagis (rsv vaccination) shot, then she has her second NICU follow up apt later in the week. I will have to check as it may actually be tomorrow morning.

Oh Jacob!
My little guy can be so funny! He was snuggled up with Toby the other night watching some boy cartoon after the girls had went to bed and he lifts up Toby's shirt and says, "Wow dad! You don't have a 6 pack, you just have a ONE pack. Where did the rest go?" I had to bite my lip to keep from laughing.
Then today we were watching a Christmas show on TV and I was trying to explain to him that baby Jesus was born in the stable instead of a hospital. He seemed to understand and a few minuets later asked me, "Why does it end in -spital?" I had no idea what he was talking about so I looked at Kira, and she didn't have anything on her, looked all around to make sure I didn't have any spit up on me that I didn't know about then asked him what he meant. He looked at me like I was crazy and said, "You know, hospital. Why does it end in -spital? Did they slobber when they named it?"
