Lazy days of summer.

Who came up with that phrase? I mean really! Lazy days of summer just does not explain it at all. Since the kids have been out of school I have burned through two tanks of gas running them here and there and picking up this play date or sleep over person or the other. Exhausting to say the least. What's even more worrisome is we aren't even one week into summer!

With each passing day my calendar gets a little fuller and my days seem to feel shorter but last forever. I don't think I have managed to crawl into bed before 2am any night this week and have been up with the sun or Kira, which ever comes first-usually Kira lol! It also does not help that Toby has been working late hours and has been gone 18hrs out of each day.

I was really hoping that our town would have the pool open today so that I could at least burn out some of the kids' never ending supply of energy today only to be disappointed. I stopped by and found out that the pool doesn't open until Monday. What the heck are we to do until Monday? I ran out and grabbed some water guns and water balloons a few days back. I dragged them out and the kids are now having a blast ambushing one another. This will of course only last for an hour or so before someone gets ticked that they are getting wet and not getting someone wet so I am off to watch and make sure no one gets hurt! Have a wonderful and safe holiday weekend!

Things that make me smile.

1. Seeing a baby smile in their sleep.
2. Running my fingers through my toddler's perfect ringlet curls.
3. Watching all the kids work in the garden.
4. Waking up to the patting hands of a hungry baby.
5. Sipping sun brewed sweet tea while sitting on my back deck.
6. Watching my girls paint each others toes/hands.
7. Reading a good book at the end of a long day.
8. Getting a call from a from a friend I hadn't talked to in awhile.
9. Trying to figure out 2 year old language.
10. Hearing my kids play the 'remember when' game.
11. Smelling in sweet baby smells.

Thursday 13 - 1

thursday-13
T-ball

1. I love it that Jake likes to play.
2. Watching 5 and 6 year old kids chase a ball is funny.
3. Seeing the improvement in them from last year is amazing.
4. I secretly love playing catch with Jake, when Toby works late.
5. He throws the ball so well that I can no longer catch them w/o a mitt.
6. The last time I did, I was sure that I would have Spalding in reverse pressed onto my palm.
7. Going to the ball field with six other kids in tow to watch one child play isn't easy.
8. There are days when I don't see much of the game because of it.
9. Jake looks so grown in his baseball pants.
10. This is his third year playing.
11. Looking at his picture from the first year makes me smile.
12. There will be no professional pictures this year.
13. I will have to figure out a layout to do on my own.

Wordless Wednesday - First lost tooth.

Jake finally lost his first tooth, the new tooth couldn't wait for it to fall out and started to grow in behind the baby tooth.
He now has another tooth that is doing the same thing.

Help a monkey out.

Could you imagine being told that your 16 month old child was diagnosed with cancer? I certainly couldn't. This little girl was recently diagnosed with neuroblastoma if you could find it in your hearts to donate $1 towards her medical fund her parents would be grateful. Insurance doesn't cover everything and the medications and treatment costs add up quickly! One dollar is not much but can add up, $1 is the cost of a soda or part of the cost of your morning latte.

Fail!

I couldn't do it. I tried, I really tried. I got everything ready, was even starting to get a little excited about going. Then my husband dropped the bomb....he gave me an option of staying home. Don't get me wrong, the option was always there but raising a family our size is not cheap. I was ready and willing to do my part in helping with the bills. After going over the numbers again, we realized that after daycare, gas and worst case scenario of taxes and health insurance rates I would be making about $100-150 a week. This would not even make my car payment. How could I leave my two babies for that amount? Toby at that point stated that I could stay home, we could find a way to cut back. How could I say no to that?

I now get to spend my morning making two little people smile and laugh, I couldn't be happier.

Count down begins.

Four more days until I return to work. I am more than a bit nervous, it's not that I am worried about Kira and the baby. We have a great sitter and I know she will care for them well. It's just that it has been a long time since I have had to leave a baby this young. Well ok, I worked one day when Kaly was 12 weeks old. Since then it was Haley, I went back to work when she was 4 almost 5 weeks old.

Right now we are nursing and mixing in formula here and there for a few reasons. The first is to build up the supply that I have here and the second to get him used to it in case the sitter runs out of milk. I have never left him with someone for 10 hours before. I really have no idea the amount that he will drink in that time span.

Another thing that really makes me nervous is having to get everyone up and ready by 7am and out the door. This will give me just enough time to drop the kids off and get to work. I can do this, I can do this. Can I do this?

You've come a long way baby!

Kira 2 hours old.

Kira 1 year old.

Kira 18 months old.

Kira 2 years old.

Happy 2nd Birthday Kira-bell! Hard to believe that two years ago today I was sitting in your hospital room waiting to hold you for the first time. You are such a joy, you make every day interesting and we all love how you make us laugh! Have a wonderful day sweet baby girl.
