Flashback Friday.

I was looking for a funny video of Paige and found this. It was taken in Feb 2005 when Jake was 14 months old.

Why did they stop making Calgon?

I know everyone has had these kinds of days, I just wish I didn't get so many! If they still made Calgon I would fill my bath tub and try to get it to take me away, not to mention that a hot bath on such a chilly day would be devine, add a good book and some quiet in the house OH HEAVEN! So I thought I would make a list of the top 10 reason my day has sucked so far:

10. It's 6* outside and with windchill it feels like -4* (probably more since it's windier here than in town).

9. My pot roast is going to have to cook an extra two hours because it's cooking was interupted.

8. I had some items that needed to be mailed today but I have no car.

7. It's cold in the house because we had no heat for a few hours.

6. I missed turning in an assignment and the teacher will not take a late turn in (GRRRR).

5. My hair is so frizzy and gross and even all the crap I put on it and flat ironed it, it's still resembles Carrot Top's hair just not as cool.

4. My husband's car may be out of commission for more than just today, so I may be without a car as well.

3. Kira has puked on me six time in the past 2 hours, so I have the lovely au do baby puke sent going on.

2. Our house was without power for two hours and it threw off my whole groove. Laundry sat in the washer, not washing, in the dryer-not drying, my kids sat at their school without power and I couldn't call to see if school was cancelled.

1. When taking the dog out, I slipped and fell flat on my back smacking the back of my head on the pavement.

Wordless Wednesday

I found this picture hiding on my camera's memory and thought it was too cute not to share.

What a week!

Jake turned 5 on Saturday. We just had a family party and his grandma and aunt actually made it this time. Here's a pic of Jake w/his cake.
Kira also turned 7 months on the same day. A picture of her with her birthday buddy is below.

Later Saturday she started getting fussy, but she normally does when we have people over. I guess she doesn't like anyone in her space. But the next day Toby's mom called and let us know that she now has the flu @@. Thank you! We already knew something was up with Kira because she was up a lot that night and was sounding more congested than normal, and also felt warm (later she actually ran a fever of 101.2). Sunday night was awful, I think Kira and I barely slept. I called the doctor and got her in that afternoon but it meant no naptime for her :(. I really needed that nap because I had a job interview Monday night. I still think that I did ok though. Her apt was quick, ears weren't infected but her right ear still had fluid in it. Her sinuses looked infected and she had "a lot of upper airway noise." They put her on omnicef and it has helped, she's much happier today and no fever. I hope that she sleeps tonight because I'm exhausted!

Today I got a call from the school telling me that Kali doesn't feel well. I had JUST got the littles down for their nap and had an 'oh crap!' moment. The nurse offered to just give Kal tylanol and see how that went and it did the trick but Kal was not happy with me. She was supposed to have a playdate but had to cancel it because she wasn't feeling well.

Tomorrow is Kira's second synagis (rsv vaccination) shot, then she has her second NICU follow up apt later in the week. I will have to check as it may actually be tomorrow morning.

Oh Jacob!

My little guy can be so funny! He was snuggled up with Toby the other night watching some boy cartoon after the girls had went to bed and he lifts up Toby's shirt and says, "Wow dad! You don't have a 6 pack, you just have a ONE pack. Where did the rest go?" I had to bite my lip to keep from laughing.

Then today we were watching a Christmas show on TV and I was trying to explain to him that baby Jesus was born in the stable instead of a hospital. He seemed to understand and a few minuets later asked me, "Why does it end in -spital?" I had no idea what he was talking about so I looked at Kira, and she didn't have anything on her, looked all around to make sure I didn't have any spit up on me that I didn't know about then asked him what he meant. He looked at me like I was crazy and said, "You know, hospital. Why does it end in -spital? Did they slobber when they named it?"

#2 = long week!

No Wordless Wednesday today. Kira went to the dr Monday and we found out she has another ear infection. It was one heck of a weekend and she is supposed to be doing better tomorrow. Oh man I hope so. She has been so fussy and irritable, doesn't want to be set down and fights going to sleep and eating. I guess it hurts to lay down? On top of that she has a cold, congestion, runny nose, cough and sneezing. Paige had a fever, runny nose and tons of sneezing and must have passed it on to Kira. The odd thing is she doesn't show a fever, I would swear by touching her that she had a fever and her cheeks get all red but I take her temp and it's always between 98.5 and 99.3, I've even tried different thermomaters and the dr's show the same. I hope the medicine kicks in and she does better tomorrow, I have a lot to do/cook.

Looks like it will be just us again this year, Toby's family has yet to call us to tell us if there is a family gathering. They do this every year, except usually they call Tuesday AFTER I have bought an entire Thanksgiving meal to tell us that the dinner is at so-and-so's house. No call this year though. Toby's Uncle was in town so maybe the decided to have it early and just didn't bother to invite us-wouldn't surprise me one bit. Heck Kali's birthday was the 8th and grandma hasn't been out to see her yet @@. I so regret moving from my family but I know even without his family living here is far better than where we were.

Ugh!

Kira is doing better, but I am not. She went to the dr yesterday and her ears were fine and they didn't see anything wrong with her. She got her RSV vaccine but it isn't effective until next month so we still have to be careful w/her. Last night around 3am I woke up with must be whatever she had. I felt/feel horrible. I'd rather be in bed right now but I have a test and two papers due NOW. Kira being sick and needy put me behind so now I feel crappy and try to get through my assignments.

3:45

Can't get here soon enough. She isn't as fussy as she has been but she is congested and her whites of her eyes are red. How strange is that, it doesn't look like pink eye and there are no goopies like pink eye would be but she just looks not well. Like she hasn't slept all night or something.

McFussin update.

Well after I posted that Kira immediately decided to both puke and poo on me. Maybe there is a little bit of something going on w/her. I will hopefully find out tomorrow afternoon.

Fussy McFussin Pants

OMGosh I am about to freakin loose my mind. Kira has been so dang fussy since Saturday. Kali had her birthday party and had 4 girls stay the night and I don't think that Kira felt comfy with all these extra peeps in the house. Once the girls left on Sunday she immediately fell asleep for 3 hours, but once she woke up OH MAN! It has been nearly non-stop fussiness. She will nap for a bit if I'm holding her and don't move or breathe (lol) but if I do or say anything she is up fussing again. She goes to the dr tomorrow for her RSV vaccine and to be checked out. I don't think that it is an illness or infection as she has no fever, maybe it's her teeth? I dunno, all I know is I hope it ends soon.

She had her 6 month well baby visit on the 6th and she weighed in at 19lbs 2.2oz (95%), was 26 1/4 inches long (75%) and her head was 16 7/8inches (75%). They showed me her preemie chart - I guess they still plot it until 1 yr - and she was way, way off of that chart LOL. She was nearly off of the regular baby chart. She is doing well developementally as far as they could see and didn't think it was a big deal that she *still* isn't rolling.

Guess the road kill....

is the new game that my kids created in the car. I have no idea why they want to but when they see a poor cridder on the side of the road, or worse flattened into the road (ewwww!!!!) they try to decide the type of animal it is. This game is less annoying then "My Cow" but pretty gross. Kali has also taken it upon herself to tell me whenever she thinks that someone 'got a deer' in the road due to the stain in the asphalt. Oh joy!

On another note, the dealership has fixed my Exploder so I will have to say good-bye to my roomy rental and go back to my matchbox baby. At least I will have the 'voice' to guide me again. Hopefully I wont be standing around at the polls too long and I can be home by naptime :).

Uhhhh my car told me to call you.......

Yup, that's what happened! I was driving down the road when my navigation errored out along with all the lights on my dash that had to do with brakes. Bells were binging and when I hit the navigation error it told me to call my dealership. So I called them up and told them that my car told me to call you. They got a kick out of that. I took my car in on Friday and she has to spend the weekend there. They did give me a nice little F-250 crew cab to drive, it's very nice and roomy and I'm now wanting one. It's funny because it's the car that Toby had wanted to get me instead of the Explorer.

Also, I didn't realize how dependant I have become on my navigation until I drove a vehicle with out it! Our dealership is in Blair, Nebraska, which is a little town outside of Omaha. From our house we take little back road highways to get there and usually I just plug in the address and go but on the way home I was a bit nervous not sure if I was going the right way or not. I DID go the right way but I sure do miss the lady that tells me to turn right in two tenths of a mile LOL.

Donate for a cure!

My very good friend Holly is doing the 3-Day walk in Arizona and needs our support. She is trying to reach her goal of 2500. If you can donate anything it would be appriciated, a link to donate is on the bottom of the email message. Here is a copy of her pledge email:

I wanted to follow up on the email I sent you earlier about my participation in the Breast Cancer 3-Day. I've been spending the past few weeks preparing for the event and have made steady progress. So far I've raised over $300 - only $1900 to go!

My training is also going well. I've walked 30 miles in the last 3 weeks. I can hardly wait to hit the route with the thousands of other women and men who are joining together for this common cause.

I have no doubt I will meet my fundraising and training goals. I've had several generous contributions to start a raffle as well. More details to follow later. The raffle winners will be chosen on Nov 5th, so please make your donations asap!

Please follow the link below to visit my personal and fundraising webpage to make your donation today. Remember you can split your contribution up over the next 7 weeks if you like.

If you can skip one Cafe Latte (appx $4.50 value) a day you'd be able to donate over $150 and probably never notice the difference. I have until the middle of Dec to meet my $2200 goal and am so thankful for every donation since we all know every penny helps!!

So, please feel free to forward this email to your family and friends that you feel would like to participate in this journey as well.

As always, thank you for your support and prayers.

Prayerfully His,
Holly Valenzuela

Better video.

Here is a better video of her sitting. I took it this morning but just now found the time to upload it.

Sunday, October 26, 2008

Look at what Kira can do!

Here she is sitting unassisted. It looks really dark on here so I will have to get a better one tomorrow.

I just had to include this video of her cracking up at Jake tonight too.

Livid!!!!

Yep that's me, at least i'm sure that's what haley is thinking about now LOL.

I don't know how your views on Myspace and Facebook are with your teens but with me and mine it is a for sure NO. Haley and I have had the Myspace talk many, many times. She tried the old 'my friends all have them' nope don't care. There are many reasons why I don't want her to have one but lets start w/the obvious one of she's a kids who doesn't think and always believes things that people say. So imagine my shock when I turn on her computer and up pops Facebook as her set homepage with her email in the sign in box. Oh hell no! I asked her if she had an account and she at least said she did and didn't lie first, so I did what any parent would and asked her for her password LOL. She of course LIED about it and after 4 tries/lies I simply did a password reset and since I know her email because I do monitor that-not as closely as I should if she was able to set up a Facebook w/o me catching the email ::HMF::. I see 20 some odd borderline provocative pictures, her first and last name, full address, home and cell phone number, and her school. Now it doesn't take a genius to figure out that that is completely unsafe for the average person let alone a teen. She not only put herself in danger but all of her younger siblings as well. Our house is a predators dream as far as pretty little girls go and here she is spreading our info-along w/pics of her little siblings I might add-on a social networking site. Then I find out that she at least had the account since June but try as I might I can't find where the 'member since' info is on the account. If any of you know where this is located and can point me to it I'd appreciate it. In any case she lost her cell phone, computer, email, digital camera and after her dad sees the Facebook it will be deleted. In the meantime I changed the password and email addy on it so she can't reset the pw. I was looking at some of the girls she has on there and am dumbfounded as to why they would want to place pictures of themselves like that on this site. Just stamp "whore" on your forehead and forgo the internet completely LOL.

Wordless Wednesday - Wii Rock!!

Happy 15th Birthday Haley!

LOL the ice cream cake icing bled

Ugh! I feel so old. I can not believe that I am the mom of a child that can legally drive where we are-she isn't driving, but she *could. She is really putting the pressure on to get that license but I need to talk to our insurance agent and the DMV to see what all we need to do.

Wordless Wednesday

"I guess mom didn't read the shirt!"
Her 3 favorite things, blanket, swing and thumb.
Kali's new 'do.
