Final days.
I finally completed the last of the three speeches for my speech class. I feel good about the results. This is the last class that is needed for graduation, if I pass-which I am positive I will now that I did good on this last speech-I will graduate in FOURTEEN DAYS!
I am beyond excited! I started this process while pregnant with Kira. I had two pregnancies and two NICU babies in the process and still managed to do assignments while caring for them in the NICU. With Kira, since she was in the hospital I actually had Jake sitting in one chair watching movies while I sat and nursed Kira, juggling another laptop and school books to get my assignments in on time (thank you St. E. for providing free Wi-Fi). With Jonas, I had enough sense to keep a week ahead in my classes so I didn't have to do that or play catch up.
It has been a long bumpy road and I am glad that it is nearing the end for now. I still want to pursue my Bachelors degree, but I think I will wait a bit on that. For now I will enjoy my current degree and wear my cap and gown with pride!

One of those days.
To say that I don't have many of these would be an understatement but as of late they have been few and far between. Quite the feet when you have just added the seventh child into the mix! I am sitting here with a toddler that can and does get into everything (just take a look at the various spots of multi-colored nail polish stained carpeting in our house), a baby that got shots yesterday and is very fussy, three other children that are tag teaming me on various questions at a mind numbing rate = one stressed out mom!
On top of the normal huge load that raising a family of seven children entails, I have taken on the task of three classes this semester. This is not a huge feat as I have taken four, or maybe it was five, at one point. This time it's for keeps though, if I pass these classes I will have achieved my A.A.S. The biggest problem is the main class this semester is speech. I loath public speaking, which is why I saved it for last, it has been dropped three times. When I try to give a speech, I don't know what really comes over me, but it's not good-or pretty. Just in normal conversation when I am the center of it and feel the least bit uncomfy my face turns red and gets redder and my level of comfort plummets. It also shows up when I'm embarrassed, nervous, mad or in pain but only my husband can distinguish the difference.
So I am sitting here trying to prepare for my first speech this Friday, which also happens to be the first day of school for the elementary kiddos and the second day of school for my middle and high schoolers. My topic is one that I should have never taken on- National Nutrition Month®. There is not much out there on the topic which makes putting the speech together a nightmare that I have to try and fill ten whole minutes with. TEN, TEN minutes! What was I thinking?
I am also taking the class online, so I do not have a specific venue to give the speech at so I will be going to the Lincoln campus and giving the speech in front of seven or so classmates that I have never met. I am beyond stressed about it all, even more so as if I don't pass this class I will be retaking it next semester. I do not want to repeat this class.
Well now that I have gotten the baby to sleep while one handedly pecking out this post I will attempt to set him down w/o waking him up and get back to finishing up the last touches on this speech. Wish me luck and if anyone knows of some great tips on how to hide my red face that normal foundation can't I would love to hear the tips!

Snow day, day two.
OMGosh I am going to go insane! Another snow day tomorrow! I will have to have Toby dig out the sleds from the attic so that the kids can sled down our hill. Maybe my work will be closed tomorrow giving me a three day weekend, one can hope lol.

Yadda, yadda, yadda.
Ok, so it has been a LOOOOONG time. Let's see first things first, Coco Keys did finally come good on the refunds. They gave me $85 at first, then after more calls, more complaining and a call to the management company they not only refunded me the other $40 but the origonal money we actually did spend as well. I am still sour on the whole deal and don't think that I should have had to wait three plus weeks to get the double billing resolved but they did come good by giving me all the money back.
The 20th was Toby and Paige's birthday. Paige turned 8 and Toby 38. Paige got a few ds games, some clothes, a few toys and $, Toby finally got his PS3. He thinks it was because he deserved it, really it was because I wanted to watch blueray movies ;).
Work is going good, we are almost done in training which means I will have to give my Blackberry Storm back. Kinda sad about that as it means no email at work :( sad pandas! Sept. 15 will be our first day on the floor and my schedule will change to noon to nine. Another BOO moment but at least I can get stuff done in the mornings w/o missing work and perhaps sleep in a bit lol (yeah right!).
School is going well, I forgot a test in two of my classes and am having to get all A's on everything to bring my grade up. Sucky but I'll get it back and end w/a B ::fingers crossed::. I have three classes next semester, one of which will be on campus-speech. Blech! I am not looking fwd to either going on campus or standing in front of a group of people. Back to school shopping or bust! Back 2 school = bust
This year I will have five kids attending 3 different schools. I will have three in elementary (little man is starting kindergarten!), one in middle school and one in high school. I have figured out that it will remain this way until the baby is in middle school then I will have kids in only two schools, well no THEN I will have the big kids in college which could possibly span across the entire country. Can you imagine? I don't even want to think about it right now, it scares me a bit. Right now having to be at two back to school functions held on the same time, same night at two different schools is plenty for me right now.
I was sitting down working on a budget for school supplies and flipping through ads figuring out the best prices for all of them. Most likely I will end up at Walmart price matching but I must be organized to get the right prices and prove that they are in fact sale items. Much easier than store hopping, although I am certain we may end up at each of the stores any way looking for the backpack w/the biggest coolness factor. @@ Middle schoolers are so funny about that :).
As I was going over the lists I realized that not only have the lists grown from last year but adding another child has about broke the bank. NO, not really since his list consists of about 7 items and three of those are gym shoes, tissues and a backpack. I found sales for the other items bringing his list to a grand total of $2.88 +tax. Not bad really since we already have the backpack and I plan to get all the kids' gym shoes at payless except for my oldest who must have name brand (dang coolness factor again grrr! lol). The rest of the kids outside of backpacks and gym shoes I came up with around $80 depending on the scientific calculators available and if my oldest can find her one from last year, if not that amount could go up at least another $25-50.
I am still trying to figure out when public schools started to require students to provide their own materials for learning. I remember cans of scissors, pencils, markers and a cabinet that contained paper, now we have to stock that cabinet and our kids carry boxes w/pens, markers, crayons and pencils. When I was in high school, my freshman year we had to pay for the books up front like you would in college and then received a partial refund at the end of the year provided the books were in semi-usable condition when returned. My sophomore year they did away with that and you only paid if you lost or destroyed a book, I don't recall having to purchase anything other than gym clothes, notebooks and folders. Of course I was a child and my mom took care of that stuff, so what would I know about it LOL!
I have started the countdown since school starts 8/13 for the older two and the 17th for the younger three. I also have to be ready for the surprise items that are given to us on the orientation night for my high schooler THE NIGHT BEFORE school starts. Don't ask, I have no idea why they would do this to parents.
We then of course have to add in the amount for school clothes, we hit old navy last weekend and didn't even make a dent in what is needed. A person could go broke!

Happy dance & frustrating!
I applied for some scholarships last quarter just for the heck of it, I hadn't really thought that I would get any but I logged onto the school site to order my books and I discovered that I had been awarded a $500 scholarship! WOOHOO! This amount covered my books for the summer semester and left just about $11 in change lol. How great is that?! It amazes me how the books are that dang expensive and then buy back they are worth less than 30% of what you paid, amazing.
A part of my schedule this upcoming semester is a work-study program. Esentially I have to find a job within my degree and work at least 20 hours a week. Normally this would not be a problem, however with the companies here and in Omaha releasing employees like hot rocks finding a job is increasingly hard. Each day I put in resume after resume and I have had a few initial phone interviews and ONE, ONE, actual interview. This is just craziness. After I was laid off from my previous job but before I had decided to go back to school I had dozens of interviews resulting in several job offers that I stupidly turned down. Looking back now, I see that at least three of those offers would have suited me well. I turned them down because it would have been a drastic pay cut-we are talking more than $5 an hour pay cut. Yes I made a rediculas amount of money at my previous job for doing very little and something that I liked. On top of the pay cut I would then have had to pay daycare since I was working graveyard and would have switched to days AND my school age kids would have been home alone for at least 2 hours a day (not a huge deal, but still). If I don't have a job lined up before 7/12 I will have to call my advisor and the Business Admin director (I think that's her title, something close to that anyway lol) and see if they have any suggestions. Let's hope it doesn't come to that though.

Huh?
I just realized that I haven't posted much but contests in a long time. Life around here is as crazy as ever. I have a lot crap to do for Toby's business BUT my effin computer decided that it wanted to crap out on me-kickin' myself for not backing up his files since FEB! OOPS lol! I hopefully will have it fixed in two weeks. School has started back up and like always the first few weeks I find myself overwhelmed until I get into the groove of how the classes work. Next semester I will actually go on campus for a few classes ::gasp!::. The kids are doing great, Haley is old enough for a learners permit and we are thinking about it. It's so hard to "let" them grow up. I still sometimes look at her and see her as the twirling-till-she-falls-down two year old. Loryn will be in middle school next year, that's equally crazy to think about, wont be but a few years and she will be pestering about her learner's permit. Kali is my boy-crazy 3rd grader who acts too mature for her age. Paige is my friendly, fun loving, girlie-girl. Jake tries to stay afloat in this sea of pink and does an ok job. He loves baseball and can't wait to start t-ball in June. He met a few kids from his team last year at the kindergarten round-up and made fast friends. Kira is about to turn a year old. This year has gone by so quickly! We aren't planning a huge birthday bash but just a family gathering and just planning that makes me sad. Why can't we freeze dry kids and keep them the perfect age LOL?

Kira outside yesterday, I learned that my little girl is as city as I am. She SCREAMED everytime she even got near grass or dirt w/her bare piggies but didn't mind the concrete under her feet!

Ahh finally!
I just submitted my last two assignments for this quarter so I am officially off of school for the next two weeks! WOOHOO! I know I have a B in one class, maybe a B in another class (possibly an A) and my marketing class..........well lets just say I hope I pass LOL. I am going to have to rethink my Business Admin focus as I think I just may suck at Marketing!
The next two weeks I am going to be focused on Toby's business paper work to make sure that we have everything lined up for the end of the year.

School's back!
Haley started school on Wednesday and Loryn, Kali & Paige started today. I can't believe I'm the mother of a high schooler. Jake is super bummed that the girls "left" him today. My baby boy was so lonely, I have looked into preschools around here but to be honest there just isn't that many and they fill up fast. I think I need to find some type of lesson for him during the day like gymnastics, or I guess I could join our old playgroup in town again....hmmm. Any way here are some pix from today.
