Fail!

I couldn't do it. I tried, I really tried. I got everything ready, was even starting to get a little excited about going. Then my husband dropped the bomb....he gave me an option of staying home. Don't get me wrong, the option was always there but raising a family our size is not cheap. I was ready and willing to do my part in helping with the bills. After going over the numbers again, we realized that after daycare, gas and worst case scenario of taxes and health insurance rates I would be making about $100-150 a week. This would not even make my car payment. How could I leave my two babies for that amount? Toby at that point stated that I could stay home, we could find a way to cut back. How could I say no to that?

I now get to spend my morning making two little people smile and laugh, I couldn't be happier.

I am very happy for you! After my oldest was born I went back to work after my maternity leave was up. I was supposed to go back part-time but they told me they needed me full-time.

I didn't have full-time childcare so I went back part-time for two weeks and then my hubby gave me permission to quit. I just couldn't leave my baby anymore!

They aren't little for long and I have been home ever since and haven't regretted it once!

You can do this, there are lots of things you can do. I would suggest you make a price book if you haven't already, as that'll save you lots of money. Also buying generic, making food from scratch, and even dropping cable or using a phone card instead of paying for long distance.

If you haven't heard of a pricebook just look under the label "pricebook" or "frugal" on my blog, or google it.

I am looking forward to reading some posts about how it's going!

Thank you for the excellent advice, I will def look into a pricebook. I went back to work with my oldest when she was 4 almost 5 weeks old. It was horrible, I missed so much.

I have no problems with a woman who wants to work but I personally would want to be home raising my kids. I'm glad you guys came to a workable solution. And, the option to go back to work will still be there in a couple of years when the kidlets are a bit older.

It's going on two years now since I quit working to stay home with the kids. I've REALLY enjoyed it. have gained such a bond with the kids that I probably wouldn't have been able to do, had I continued working 40+ hours a week. When I get antsy beng home, that's when I dig into one of my new found hobbies. Allie will be in school fulltime this coming fall, and I will be going back to work then. Enjoy your time with your kiddos. =)
